RUG RESTORATION PROCESS

Visual restoration. The visual restoration genre encompasses many things, all pertaining to color problems. Incorrect cleaning by professionals or at home can lead to coloration issues. Perhaps at some point a spill happened or a pet had an accident and you thought you could treat the rug, only to find that the colors lightened in the spot you cleaned. Or, the colors might have bled slightly to other places of the rug. These fall under visual restoration. Extreme fading from direct sunlight, which is the most common cause of color loss, can have an effect too. Sometimes it is hard to notice a rug has faded until you move a piece of furniture and notice the difference or see an old photo and notice how vivid your rug looked. This usually causes slow but drastic damage, as they spend their time eating away at the fabric and weakening the rug structure and often causing staining as well. Moisture is another huge cause of damage. Even in spots of the home you would think are dry, humidity can work its way in and permeate into your beautiful rug. Over time, if the moisture can’t escape it will begin to form mold and mildew between the fibers. This causes serious damage including unpleasant odors, and it creates stains in the rug as well as causing damage to the fabric.
